Hello! I'm Gabe Duncan, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am also level 1 Emotion-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy certified, which I utilize both in an integrated model in my approach to therapy.
My Approach and Purpose
I believe that every person has a story worthy to be told and, most importantly, understood. Sometimes life experiences, relationships, loss, anxiety, self-doubt, or unexpected challenges can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and the life we want to be living. My role is to help you make sense of those experiences, reconnect with what matters most to you, and move toward meaningful change. What drew me to this work is a genuine belief that people are capable of growth, healing, and change when they have a safe place to be seen, understood, and challenged. I've always been fascinated by the stories people carry - the experiences that shape how they view themselves, their relationships, and their place in the world. Over the years, I've learned firsthand that most people aren't looking for someone to "fix" them. They're looking for someone who will sit with them in the difficult moments, help them make sense of what they're experiencing, and support them in creating a life that feels more connected, authentic, and meaningful. Being able to walk alongside people in that process is one of the most rewarding parts of the work I do and is informed by my own struggles and challenges as I believe being human is the most beneficial component of success in therapy and in life.
My approach integrates Emotion-focused therapy and Narrative therapy, allowing us to explore both the emotions that shape your experiences and the stories you've come to believe about yourself, others, and the world around you. Together, we'll work to better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, while creating space for new perspectives, deeper connection, and lasting growth.
Family and friends often describe me as warm, genuine, and easy to talk to, and I carry this authenticity into my work as a therapist. At the same time, I believe meaningful change sometimes requires us to gently challenge old assumptions, face difficult emotions, and step outside familiar patterns. I strive to create a space where you feel accepted exactly as you are while also feeling supported to move toward where you want to be.
If we work together, you can expect therapy to feel conversational, collaborative, and genuine. I believe meaningful growth happens within a strong therapeutic relationship, so I prioritize creating an environment where you feel comfortable being yourself - without fear of judgement.
While I bring warmth, empathy, and curiosity into the room, I also believe in helping clients move beyond insight alone. When appropriate, I'll challenge patterns, beliefs, or behaviors that may no longer be serving you. My goal is not simply to help you feel "better", but to help you create lasting change that continues long after our sessions end.
Whether you're navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, life transitions, grief, self-esteem struggles, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, I am committed to meeting you where you are at and walking alongside you in the process.
Seeking support takes courage, and you don't have to do it alone. I look forward to helping you discover (or re-discover) new possibilities for your story and your life.
